Tiivistelmä: Tutkimuksessa analysoidaan maidon tuotantokustannuksia Suomessa eri tukialueilla. Aineistona on Maaseutukeskusten Liiton keräämä maidontuotannon taloustarkkailuaineisto, joka sisältää tiedot noin 1 000:lta maitotilalta. Kustannuksia tarkastellaan samanaikaisesti tukialueittain (AB, C1, C2, C2P ja C3) sekä karjakoon mukaan. Kustannukset on laskettu työkustannuksen kanssa sekä ilman sitä. Maidontuotannon kustannukset taloustarkkailutiloilla olivat vuonna 1997 keskimäärin 3,08 mk tuotettua maitokiloa kohti. Alle 15 lehmän tiloilla kustannukset olivat 3,43 mk maitokiloa kohti ja yli 15 lehmän tiloilla 0,46 mk alhaisemmat. Eri tukialueilla maidontuotannon kustannukset vaihtelivat 3,00 markasta 3,29 markkaan maitokilolta. Korkein maidon tuotantokustannus oli C3-tukialueella ja alhaisin C1tukialueella. Ilman työkustannusta tukialueiden AB-C1 väliset erot maidontuotannon kustannuksissa olivat pienet. Siirryttäessä C3-tukialueelle kustannukset olivat noin 0,20 mk maitokiloa kohti korkeammat. Työkustannuksen ohella suurimmat tukialueiden väliset erot johtuivat rehukustannuseroista. Etelän tukialueilla rehukustannus on alhaisempi kuin pohjoisessa, koska etelässä kotoisia rehuja käytetään runsaasti.

Abstract: This study analyses the costs of milk production in different support areas in Finland. The data used are the dairy survey data collected by Association of Rural Advisory Centre. The data include information about 1 000 dairy farms. The production costs are analysed both by support areas and by farm size. The costs are calculated with and without labour costs. The average cost of milk production in dairy survey farms was 3,08 FIM per milk-kg. In the farms with less than 15 cows the costs were 3,43 FIM and the farms with more than 15 cows the costs were 0,46 FIM smaller. In different support areas the production costs varied between 3,00 and 3,29 FIM per milk-kg. The highest production costs were in the support area C3 and the lowest in the support area C1. Without labour costs the cost differences between support areas turned to be small. In the support area C3 the production costs were about 0,20 FIM milk-kg higher. Along with labour costs the major cost differences between support areas were due to differences in feed costs. In the southern support areas the feed costs are lower because of high share of home-grown feed.
