National economy

From macro to the consumer: Our research on national economy

Our national economy research includes the whole economic system, from the macroeconomic level to the private companies and households. Our main topics are public finances, regional economy, housing market, labour market and innovations.

During the last few years, emerging themes in our research have been climate change and behavioural economics. For example, we study so called ‘nudges’ or how to steer consumer behaviour without coercion or sanctions. We also examine how to help young people develop better financial and digital literacy.

Twice a year, we publish a short term forecast of Finnish national economy.
